The Australian National University

Starting today, the ANU Library will participate in a two-week trial that will see power saving software, Greentrac, installed on all Information Commons PC’s in the Chifley Library.

The new software—which has been implemented in other universities—will automatically switch Information Commons PCs on prior to the Library opening, and switch them off shortly after the Library closes. Two warning notices will appear on computers—one half an hour and one 5 minutes before closing—prompting you to save your work.

If the two-week pilot is successful the software will be rolled out to Information Commons PCs in all Library branches.

ANU is committed to a sustainability program across the campus, and the Library would like to congratulate the F&S and ITS staff who have led this project.

Happy Earth Hour.
